How To Flourish as a Wedding Guest

How To Flourish as a Wedding Guest

There it is, you check your mailbox (electronic or physical, doesn’t matter) and you see a wedding invitation. You’ve probably seen it coming for a while, but the invitation solidifies the ordeal, and now it’s time to start planning. Whether it’s having to book a flight, plan a road trip, or booking a day or two off from work, planning to attend a wedding is quite the time investment. It’s important that you not only have a great time, but that you do your part in supporting the bride and groom (or bride and bride or groom and groom). And while your presence makes the statement of how important these two people are in your life, navigating through the weekend smoothly and gracefully speaks even greater volumes. So here at No Days Wasted, we wanted to put together a quick blog of a few things that we think will go a long way in making sure that you absolutely flourish as a wedding guest and make the most of this special moment in life.

  • Be punctual, and don’t cut things too close

  • When it comes to attending events within the wedding, make sure you do your best to be on time. Coordinating a successful wedding takes a lot of effort and is very dependent on everyone involved. Make sure that you mark down the start of the events you’re attending well beforehand, so there is no confusion when the day comes. Additionally, try to get there earlier than you would for any normal function, so you have some leeway, in case a few hiccups arise. Getting there early also gives you a great opportunity to see if there’s anything you can do to help precursor the start of the event and this goes a long, long way. Also, try not to plan things too closely when it comes to weddings, especially if travel is involved. Life’s too short as it is, so you don’t want to add any unneeded stress to the ordeal. If you’re planning on flying out the same day as the wedding, plan the extra day, or if you're thinking of driving an all-nighter to get they’re in time for the rehearsal dinner, try and spread it out, even if it means having to take an extra day off work. The stress you save yourself and your commitment to the bride and groom will be more than worth it in the long run.

  • Make sure you don’t over do it, or at least have a solution… hint hint - DHM Detox by No Days Wasted

  • A wedding is certainly a time for celebration, and often, celebrating calls for a drink or two. If you’re drinking throughout the entirety of the wedding week/weekend, you don’t want to compromise your energy or your enthusiasm as the reception approaches. Make sure you have a good time, but there’s no need to overdo it, especially to the extent where you can’t enjoy any of the festivities or ceremonies of the following day.  You don’t want to leave with any regrets. Listen to your body and pace yourself.  Additionally our hero product DHM Detox, may be the essential trick you need to ensure that you flourish as a wedding guest. DHM Detox is designed to break down the toxic byproduct of alcohol, acetaldehyde, instead of having the toxins build up in your system, so you don’t wake up with the negative next day after effects. It also increases your levels of glutathione to try and help prevent any restless sleeps alcohol may induce. Whether you’re a DHM Detox regular or have yet to try the product, this is a must have if you have a wedding on the horizon, so you can navigate throughout the events fresh and ready to make the most of it!

  • Be deliberate and thoughtful in your wedding gift

  • Ah, the wedding gift conundrum. Picking the perfect wedding gift can be challenging enough, and with the added pressure that society has placed upon this tradition, it may damn well seem impossible. My advice is don’t worry about the pressure and be deliberate in the gift you choose. The best wedding gift isn’t dependent on price or glamour behind the gift. Plan a budget and stick to it, in this day and age it certainly isn’t too hard to find gifts, especially if you invest the time and use foresight beforehand. Pinterest is a good way to get some inspiration, especially if you’re drawing blanks. If you start thinking about it well in advance, I’m sure the right gift idea will come to you. The best gifts come from thoughtful intentions. If you can, try to personalize the gift or maybe even tie in a memory that you share with the couple. Whether it’s concert tickets to the same band that you saw with the bride back in your college days, or an all you can eat gift card to the restaurant that you and the groom used to celebrate all your favourite milestones with. Be creative, but more importantly be thoughtful.

  • If you’re going to give a speech or toast, make sure you have someone listen to it beforehand

  • To preface you probably know exactly where I am coming from on this one. You’re at a wedding and someone has given an ill rehearsed speech or one that has spontaneously come to fruition after a little bit of liquid courage. Now these speeches and toasts can often be funny and help ease the seriousness of the occasion and come from great intentions. However, it’s important to note that they can also be destructive or dampening if not constructed properly. It’s important to write out your speech/toast beforehand (preferably not on a napkin in the bathroom) put some good thought into it, and then read it out to someone. The last thing you’d want is offend someone in the crowd or share a memory that may not be suited for a larger audience. At the end of the day, the whole point of giving a speech or toast at a wedding is to pay homage to how meaningful the bride and groom are to you. But it can also serve as a way to help break some tension and keep the great vibes of the night going, so feel free to have a little fun with it and get creative, but just make sure that you're respectful and that you read it out to someone beforehand!

Well that just about does it on a few things that we think can help you go through your upcoming weddings. I wish you all the best, and hope you enjoy all the future weddings you attend, it’s a true privilege to get to be a part of such a special day of two peoples lives.

    TLDR (Too Long Didn’t Read)

1 – Make sure you're punctual and that you try to get to all the events during the wedding ceremony early, this goes a long way and is a great way to demonstrate how grateful you are to be a part of the ceremony.

2 – Try not to get too inebriated and consider the consequences of excessive drinking. DHM Detox can really be a “lifesaver” during a wedding/weekend to ensure that your body gets what it needs when having to deal with a little alcohol and ensuring that you get all your days back.

3 – Don’t stress too much about picking the perfect wedding gift, if you give yourself enough to think about it thoughtfully, you will find something perfect.

4 – If you’re going to give a speech or toast, don’t wing it, and try to get some positive feedback beforehand!

    All the best,
